If it ever stops raining here in Boston, we will head to lunch at Sullivans at Castle Island. The hot dogs ($1.50) and shakes can’t be beat. It is a short cab ride from the new convention center if you are visiting Boston.

Just outside of Gate 37 is a wonderful artery clogging hamburger spot called “Five Guys.” Locals have been fans of this chain for years and they’ve now expanded nationally. No fancy theme or concept here rather just a simple promise — a great burger cooked to order and fresh cut fries. Only thing missing is they don’t sell shakes!

We’ve been doing lots of housekeeping at Right Hat but eventually one has to eat. So if you happen to find your way to New Orleans check out – Coquette in the Garden District. It sits on the corner of Washington and Magazine and the chef/owner is Mike Stolzfus who was the sous chef at John Besh’s Restaurant August. 10 of us ate there on a Tuesday for lunch and found both the service and food impeccable. A delicate squash blossom soup with lump Louisiana blue crab meat almost made me want to cancel my entree and ask for seconds. And the shrimp and grits were exactly what this southerner living in Boston needed to revive her. Their number is (504) 265-0421.

In Cambridge, Massachusetts just a brisk walk from Harvard Square is Dali Restaurant – http://www.dalirestaurant.com/home.html. When you walk in the door, you feel you’ve just stumbled into a restaurant outside Sevilla. The decor is a funny mix of Old World and just plain old kitsch. The tapas is delicious and service is always ebullient. On a cold night, they make sure and keep the heat up so you feel like you’ve just been wrapped in a soft, warm blanket. The sangria is not too sweet and they make killer chicken livers just like my grandmother did!
